TV News Research

Research
  • Title, date and time of bulletin: The titles is BBC News. The date is 14.06.2013 and the time was at 9pm.
  • Presenters was an aged woman named Marteen Croxil
  • News stories covered- main story was about the syria conflict. Then it moves onto talking about surgeons who are not allowed to publish their results because of the government. Lastly there was a talk about the iran election.
  • Use of graphics, animation, video packages, interviews and live links- There was a pop up annotation of the different News stories. There was also a logo up on the right hand side which said the channel of the news. No animation.
  • Use of modern or digital technology- Where there was an establishing shot there was a big TV on sight which is modern technology.
  • Anything that encourages the audience to keep watching (dramatic video, animated graphics, previews of news or features later in the programme etc.) There was a dramatic beat in the background as the news started.

3) Research the institutions behind your two TV News programmes. Find out the following for each:

  • Who owns or controls the institution- BBC
  • How the institution is funded or makes money- They get money from a TV License but they're a non profit company.
  • Any controversial issues or complaints that the institution has had to deal with in recent years-  Paedophile scandal regarding Jimmy Savile.

4) Find out the target audience for your one TV News programmes. You should be able to find a detailed breakdown online if you search intelligently. If you cannot find anything, write what you think the target audience for the programme would be and why.
30-80 with the reasons of the fact that the TV news of BBC which starts at 9pm is quite mature which wouldn't really interest teenagers or young adults.

Writing a film pitch

The anon

1) The ‘log line’ (a one sentence summary of the film's narrative or appeal) - in task 3 above: A girl who risks her own life while trying to save others from a mystery assailant even though she risks from getting in danger herself. 2) Brief reference to your film's genre ("this film is an urban thriller..."): Horror 3) Brief reference to at least one similar film ("this film is a cross between The Italian Job and Spy Kids..."): The film is a cross between Scream and Taken 4) Brief reference to the target audience for your film ("this film will appeal to the core cinema-going age group of 12-25..."): The age group is 15-25 5) Indication of main characters ("The story is based around Jack - an honest guy who gets caught up in a major robbery - and Reuben, the villain who is after the money..."): Katherine is a ordinary girl who often gets left home alone from her parents who go to work. Her notable traits are being caring and giving. Her boyfriend however seems supportive but ends up to take a dark turn later on in the movie; something that Katherine isn't familiar with. 6) Brief summary of narrative (what happens in the story): There is an anonymous caller who threatens Katherine. She has to complete some questions because he's got her friend hostage and if she gets a question wrong, he cuts her best friend, Tia's body. Soon Katherine can't bear the pressure so she gives up and her friend is soon dead. Once she get's to grips with reality, the killer starts asking Katherine questions so she can save her own life and then after she gets a question wrong, the killer soon sneaks in her house and chases her so Katherine runs outside. She meets her boyfriend, Adam but it turns out that he's part of the plan to kill the girl too so Katherine has to try to escape the both of them in order to survive.

Key Conventions

Film poster key conventions

  • The central image is of Liam Neeson who is confidently standing in a position with his legs shoulder width apart and a gun in his hand. This appeals to the reader as they like to see the main character which is Liam neeson heroic and strong.
  • The Secondary images are behind the central image which are all images representing the story line to the actual film Taken.
  • The title is big and bold very easily visible right in front of the main character who is fiercely presented at the top third.
  • Tagline (like a slogan) There is a slogan at the top left hand corner of the poster which is a quote from Liam Neesons speech in the film.
  • Release date is 26.09.08
  • Stars are Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen
  • Critic reviews are 7.9/10 from 397,409 users  on IMDB
  • Production blurb is small and faded, perfectly fitted at the bottom of the poster. Where as the star Liam Neeson's name is the complete opposite.
Film trailers: key conventions
  • Institutional details – the film studio is 20 century fox, some of the actors are Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen The director is Pierre Morel
  • Short clips of key moments in film to introduce characters and narrative... There is a short clip where Liam Neesons daughter in the film is dragged from under the bed by the people who have broken into the house.
  • Fast paced editing to suggest drama and excitement... There is fast paced editing around the end to showcase the father talking to the intruders and while what the intruders are forcing his daughter to do.
  • On-screen text... Right at the end there is on screen text presenting the actors and release date but during the trailer there is screen text telling the audience the film production.

  • Social media hashtags / website details: quotes said by the public is.. 'its a very good movie. I gave it a solid 8. I left the movie feel very satisfied' and also 'Just watched this film and have to say, very good in the scheme of things' etc
  • Production blurb (usually final shot of trailer) There is no production blurb on the trailer.
  • Music that communicates genre and ‘feel’ of film- there is a heartbeat at the end of the trailer to create intensity and also during the trailer before the daughter gets dragged out from under the bed there is a faint drum beat in the background.
Film language notes

Sound
Sound in film includes:
  • Dialogue from the actors, e.g when the dad in the film talks to the daughter through the phone.
  • Sound effects- There is a sound of heartbeats in the background around the end of the trailer.
  • Music involves a faint drum beat during the trailer or some synth.
  • Voiceover is not included.

Diegetic and non-diegetic sound

Diegetic: When the dad talks to the daughter through the phone.

Non-diegetic:The is a sweet and soft song in the background when the daughter in Taken runs to hug her dad. This is non-diegetic as the characters are unable to hear it.

Mise-en-scene

Mise en scène literally translates from French as ‘putting on stage’.

We use it in film studies to describe everything that appears in front of the camera.

When we analyse mise en scène, we need to look at the following:
  • Actors- one example is when the daughter is in the other room in paris watching her friend being taken. Her expression while shes talking to her dad on the phone is frightened and fearful.
  • Costume and make-up- All of the actors in the film are wearing casual clothes and no make up to symbolise an ordinary life.
  • Setting and props includes a telephone, a voice recorder and a gun. The setting in a normal area but then moves over to france where it becomes more hood-like
  • Lighting and colour- No special lighting or colour schemes.

Taken

The film I picked is called Taken. The reason I picked this film is because its a very well-known film to many people and to me. It has a very interesting, mysterious, intense storyline and a detailed cover poster. There are many things to talk to about which is why I picked it.

Institutional background

1) What was the film studio or production company behind your chosen film? Some of the production companies were Europacorp. Another production company is M6 films.

2) Who was the distributor for the theatrical release of the film in the UK? The distributor is 20th Century Fox, Europacrop distribution and independent films. These are only some of them.

No brand loyalty
1) What genre does your chosen film fit into? The genre my film fits into would mostly be action with a lot of drama going on.

2) How can you tell it fits that genre? The reason I know that Taken fits into action is because within the trailer there's lots of running and actions and fear in many of the actors faces. A lot of the time you see guns and aggressive behaviour towards one and another. Half of the time you see the main actor of the film running and threatening to kill. Explosives also take place, punching and hiding.

3) Is your chosen movie a sequel? Taken is not actually a sequel itself but it does have two sequels called Taken 2 and Taken 3 is on the way.

3b) If No, are previous films by the writer, director or star mentioned in the trailer? No it isn't because the only thing that the trailer spoke about was the actual film which was Taken itself.

It’s all a matter of timing
1) What was the UK release date for your chosen film? The UK release date was 26 September 2008 (UK)

2) When did the first trailer appear on YouTube for your movie? The first trailer that came out on Youtube was about 3 years ago but the specific date was March 9 2011.

3) What other examples of marketing (teaser trailers, main trailers, newspaper or TV interviews etc.) can you find for your chosen film from before the film’s release date? There was a teaser trailer that was put up on Youtube but there's also a main trailer by the distributor of 20th Century Fox.

It’s a social thing
1) What was the word-of-mouth like for your chosen film? The reaction of people who had watched Taken were really positive and very good views towards taken as they had said things like... 'I saw this movie tonight at the sneak preview and I was completely surprised and blown away' and 'First thing to say is, this is a great and fun movie from beginning to end'
2) Find three quotes (no more than 25 words each) from user reviews of your movie to create a picture of what the public reaction to the film has been. Post them on your blog. So a lot like the previous answer there were also reviews like... 'its a very good movie. I gave it a solid 8. I left the movie feel very satisfied' and also 'Just watched this film and have to say, very good in the scheme of things' etc.

Risky business

1) What was the original budget for your chosen film? The budget for taken was $25 million

2) How much money did the film make in the opening weekend? It made about 100 million

3) How much money has the film made in total? (Look for the subheading ‘Gross’ which has the total box-office earnings listed). The total box office for taken is $226,830,568 and the total gross was $145,000,989.

Stars in their eyes

1) What films has the director previously directed? Are they in the same or similar genres? The director Pierre Morel has directed other films beside Taken such as The Gunman which even in the title you can tell is action as it has 'gun' within the name so yes, they are similar genres.

2) Who is the main star in the film? The main star of Taken is Liam Neeson.

3) What other films has the main star appeared in? Are any of the films similar to the one you are researching? Liam Neeson is also in a film called Non-stop which is action a lot like taken which shows the similarity is has to taken.

4) Are the stars or the director or writer mentioned in the trailer for the film? They are no mentioned in the trailer.

Film Trailers

Film Trailer: This is called Addicted, one of the new film trailers on YouTube.
The genre: The genre is romance. Alternatively it has a bit of drama involved so I would say its romantic drama as a genre.
Evidence (NCIS): This film has a form of a love triangle as the storyline. A married woman who has two children falls in love with an addiction to crave different type of men. As a result she has a secret love affair with a man she is employing and her husband finds out. The characters is a typical family (wife, husband, 2 children and grandmother) some family friends with the wife and a man who falls in love with the wife who is also craving for him. The iconography of this film is a family who is being broken up because of a tragic craving that the wife of the family feels and so the trust between everyone dies. The setting is in a normal and casual area, most times in houses but also in a work environment too. There's a scene with clubbing but its mainly a casual sort of place.

Film Trailer: This film trailer is called another me.
The genre: The genre of this film is horror.
Evidence(NCIS): The narrative of this film, so the story line is about this girl who is living a normal life, goes to school and talks to family. Suddenly there's a unusual form of a body following her everywhere to a point where she thinks she is being followed and stalked which results fear to her everyday life. She tries to find someone to talk to and was told its only something that looks exactly like her and wants to have her life but as long as she doesn't look at this thing it cannot harm her. She is left in fear.
The characters of this film is a girl, her family and friends and also the unknown 'ghost' who looks exactly like her and wants her life. The iconography is high school kids, a family, a girl in a normal place and also a 'ghost' who looks exactly like her. The setting is in a normal area, a school environment taking place in not such a popular area though.

Film Trailer: This film trailer is called little man.
The Genre: Comedy
Evidence(NCIS): The story line to this film is about two friends trying to steal a diamond for their boss or leader. They get chased by policemen and ditch the diamond to a ladies bag and have to go get the diamond back which means getting involved with this ladies family or husband at least. In the end there is emotion shown between everyone. The characters are a man who is known as Little man his friend and a wife and a husband who both live with the wife's dad. Theres a gang who need the diamond and the boss. Two police mens and a few family friends. The iconography is guns and running with street clothing but also fashion clothing within the family. The setting is in a normal house area but also local shops. In the beginning however there is a jail environment.

Magazine cover so far...

Feedback from Chloe

The feedback I received was to make my flash which says 'The Queen Of Beauty' more visible and more bigger to show that its trying to show represent my central Image. In other words to make it more effective.

Analysing Magazines

Title of publication

The title of publication which is 'VIBE' is hidden by the central image whom is a famous and successful rapper, Eminem. This suggests that the regular audience, the main audience who read vibe are capable of guessing the title even when is obscured by the cover photo. In a way it just shows that VIBE is confident that their style will be recognized. The title is big which shows its importance and the merging colours which are black and red shows that its following the theme through out the whole magazine, also the atmosphere of the magazine associates to music. The distinctive typeface is sans serif on the whole magazine which allows the presentation of it to look highly organised.

Central Image

The central image is Eminem, a successful rapper, he is showing that the magazine is a range of music. In this case, rap. Eminem is standing straight up with his arms folded and staring directly at the camera with a very steel glare, this shows the confidence and fearless attitude presented all over his body position and facial emotion. The revealing clothes show his tattoos and muscles which again takes up back to power and confidence.

Cover lines

The cover lines are in a range of different sizes which shows that the magazine is trying to draw in the audiences attention. Also the colours of the cover lines are to carry out with the theme.

Language

The language of the magazine all has gaps between them to avoid the busy sight and also they are all in the same font to make the magazine look more organised and profession other than childish and useless.

 Medium shot (MCS)
The medium close up shot shows off each and every individual person's face as they stand in front of the camera. The medium close up allows us to see the different faces and emotion shown from each person standing there. The location isn't too clear when medium shot is often created but we can tell what may be going on by the simple and straight forwards actions and positions of the people there. To the audience this shot is quite mysterious as we are never going to be too sure what is happening but there is enough to see what might, just might be going on.

Wide shot (WS)
This is wide shot showing the background and the whole scene from views front point of view. With this shot the audience is able to see the background and the whole shot of everything. This show allows everything going on to be in sight for example you can see the car and a man behind in front of another car, point is we can see exactly what is going on, we might not be correct in knowing exactly what is happening but we are able to give a very sensible estimate towards what we assume must be happening. The wise shot is mostly front view so we can see every object and wall in this sort of position making it clear what is there and not there in this scene, and in this scene theres a car in a very empty atmosphere.

Medium close up shot (MCU)
This shot is called a medium close, a lot like the shot before previous, medium shot except this isn't a head to shoulder shot but a face shot where you only see the face and not the background and the scene and what may be going on behind there. This shot doesn't give an obvious answer to what is going on in the scene as all we can see is a mans face but from this shot there is great emotion showing us what this man might be looking at which helps us be patient and gives us split seconds to try figure out with fast speed to what might be happening. The location is not obvious and we cannot see where this shot has been taken and we cannot see what is going on in the background but we can see a man and we can just guess to what is going on.

Learner Response

WWW: well done Naz, a really detailed piece of work with some original suggestions for why the director has chosen a certain running order.

EBI: I would like to have seen some suggestions about how the political stories were presented and what might have caused this.

LR: Could you research the political bias of certain news channels and explain in a post how this might have influenced the programme?

During my period as a producer at Sky News, between 2005 and 2007, I used to answer the question, "Where do you work?" from members of my wife's family in the United States with the line: "A channel called Sky News. It's the British equivalent of Fox News."
What I meant, of course, was that Sky News is, like Fox News, a 24-hour rolling news channel, available on satellite and via cable, and part of Rupert Murdoch's global media empire. But in style and in substance, of course, it is nothing like the pro-war, pro-Republican, pro-Palin Fox News Channel (FNC).
For a start, we have Ofcom (which the Tories want to abolish!) and Ofcom would never allow such blatant, on-air bias in this country (God bless Ofcom!). Indeed, I defy you to find me a single anchor or reporter on Sky News who bears even a passing ideological resemblance to Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity.
But the Labour Party and some of its more credulous supporters seem to be insinuating -- or, in the case of Ed Balls and John Prescott, explicitly claiming -- that Sky News has a pro-Tory, anti-Labour bias.
Here's what the Children's Secretary said to me in his constituency on Saturday:
I travel to Yorkshire on the day the Guardian has endorsed the Liberal Democrats and the Times the Conservatives. Are the media united against a Labour victory? "The BBC has fought valiantly to be fair and balanced, but Sky News and most of the newspapers are deeply partisan." He criticises the Murdoch-owned broadcaster and the right-wing press again later in the interview. "This election is much more open than the newspapers and Sky News suggest. The polls are very tight."
And here is John Prescott, on the Guardian's Comment is Free, in the immediate wake of "Bigotgate":
Yet again, the dying Murdoch empire is doing all it can to influence a British election . . . But today, the Murdoch family reached a new low in their desperate attempt to turn the election for the Tories. News International's Sky News broadcast a private conversation between Gordon and his staff . . . What Murdoch's Sky News did today was just as bad as his paper's phone-hacking. It was a breach of privacy. It was underhand. And it was done in the pursuit of ratings and political influence.
This is absurd. Yes, Sky News broadcast the conversation in "pursuit of ratings". That's a given. And, I should add, you could argue that there was also a genuine public interest defence. Also, does anyone honestly believe ITV News wouldn't have done the same?
But to accuse Sky News of pursuing "political influence" is a desperate claim. There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest there is a co-ordinated anti-Labour, pro-Conservative campaign on the part of Sky News. John Ryley, the Sky News boss, Chris Birkett, his executive editor, and Jonathan Levy, the head of the broadcaster's political unit in Millbank -- all of whom I consider friends of mine -- are not Tories, and, if they are, they've done a damn fine job of hiding it from me and countless others.
Adam Boulton, meanwhile, is the semi-sympathetic biographer of Tony Blair -- and married to Blair's former "gatekeeper", Anji Hunter. Oh, and to those of you who have never worked in a TV newsroom, let me be very clear: Rupert Murdoch doesn't ring up each evening to discuss and decide the running orders with Messrs Ryley and Birkett. In fact, in my two years at Sky News HQ in Isleworth, Middlesex, Murdoch Sr physically turned up just once -- and, that too, to open a new building, not to pontificate on day-to-day editorial matters.
Labour critics of Sky News might point to last night's events at Methodist Central Hall, where Gordon Brown gave perhaps the best speech of the campaign so far, while Sky News chose to cover the lone anti-nuclear protester, rather than the speech itself and the impressive performance from the PM. It was a bad decision -- but again, in my view, this reflects Sky's sensationalist and perhaps understandable desire for ratings, upsets, gaffes and "incidents", rather than an explicit, pre-planned, anti-Brown agenda.
Left-wing conspiracy theorists can sleep in peace. The Sun is fighting a partisan, pro-Cameron, ant-Brown campaign. So, too, is the Times, with its propagandistic picture of Sam Cam lying in Dave's arms on its front page today. But Sky News remains, as far as I can see, free of party political bias.
All you could accuse it of -- maybe! -- is being part of a wider British press pack that has gullibly, lazily and perhaps subconsciously bought David Cameron's guff about change, momentum and inevitablility. If that's the case, the the BBC is equally guilty. But I repeat: Sky News is not the Sun. To compare the two is just silly.

L.R:
This is a political bias that's on sky news and spoken about. A way that political bias influences sky news is in such a way where sky news update the information of political bias onto their page which means alot of people who take part of watching them get to see this stuff and read it in a way which could change their behaviour and attitude towards the political bias.

Fruit Bowl Colour Task.

Today our first task was to go onto Photoshop and create a colour palette of our chosen theme, mine was winter and so I used varies of blue and black, grey colours and dabbed them anywhere onto my white sheet from Photoshop. Here is what the end result was:

After the colour palettes our class was assigned to use Photoshop to fill in a blank picture of a fruit bowl. To help us decide what we were going to pick, Mr Matthews gave us some themes which could help us decide what colours that we were going to fill our fruit bowl with, I chose winter and my finished result was amazing, here it is:

Rihanna... Reb'l Fleur

Media Language

The name of the perfume which is are the right-hand corner in a very fancy and beautiful font is almost deliberately spelt in a French way to make it sound and look very exotic despite the fact that the audience to Rihannas perfume are actually people from America who don't talk French but speak English. The word Fleur in the name of the perfume has synergy with the flour that's gently pressed against her lips as the meaning of Fleur means 'flower' and with the picture of the flower links. The name of the perfume 'reb'l' so the first part looks misspelled to rebel which indicates that Rihanna is a rebel when it comes to her attitude, and she really is which is shown when naming her perfume.

Institution

The main institution, the person responsible for this product or whom has produced this perfume is Rihanna herself, a famous singer who is adored and loved by many people around the world who admire her. Rihanna has alot of albums and she is very successful, exceedingly known with more than one perfume which just brings more people to come and buy her other perfumes so the person is Rihanna herself.

Audience

The audience that Rihannas perfume is mainly targeted at or aimed at are young females, young females who feel or want to smell like Rihanna or like the scent of a flower as the name suggests what the perfume might smell like. Another hand full of audience are probably Rihanna navy's also known as Rihanna fans who look at Riri as an idol or someone they want to be like which encourages them to want the perfume and require it. So the type of people who would be targeted are people around the ages 17-26 maybe less or maybe older but this age group is more expected.

Representation

The representation on this adverts background is exclusively pink and sweet colours with a female dressed in a very heart-warming manner which in a way points out clues to who the main type of audience is. The famous lady, Rihanna is used as she did produce the perfume but also does change alot of people minds into whether they should or should not buy the product when there is a famous female presented in the advert. This advert obviously and sharply shows that this product is for females and goes out to young ladies who are interested in either the famous person in the advert or just the perfume in general.

Tv News research

1) The key information about the programme:

I chose to get a programme from sky news as it seemed to be the most appealing news channel for me and in my opinion, I don't usually watch sky news and i'm not exactly a fan of news and listening to them, I'm more of a see and go, I cant sit watching the news for too long or I get too down and I don't exactly recognise the faces and presenters but I did choose sky news.

The channel that its broadcasted on is 501 on sky news from a few months ago so it isn't exactly a recent broadcast. The broadcast was Published on Jul 27, 2014, 8:16. The presenter that was presenting the broadcast on sky news, his name was Barnaby Raine, not really familiar with him because I don't usually watch Sky news but that was his name.

Sky gets a lot of views and as much as I was interested in sky when picking out of all the news channels, I cant really blame why it has so much views. It has roughly around 20k who watch and go on their website for updates, it isn't 20k on the dot but it is around that much of people.

A really good news channel cant not have awards and so the awards the programme itself has won is
Baftas, Emmys, Broadcast Digital Channel Awards, '2011 News Channel of the Year' so it has quite a few impressive awards.

The logo/brand identity of the programme is quite appealing too with a majority of colours involved and it looks like this:

A video clip  that I chose wasn't pulled out from Sky news website because it isn't very recent so for the good videos I had to take a visit to youtube and bring up old stories that have come and gone through out sky news and been presented by presenters for people to watch and I came up with this video.

2) The institution behind the programme – this is usually the TV channel it is broadcast on.

What year the channel was launched - The year this channel was launched was on 5 February 1989, so as you can see it isn't at all recent which is why it couldn't be found on sky news as sky news brings up recent and updated news otherwise how else do they get their audience. BskyB do run the channel also and owns.

A YouTube trailer advertising a show on the channel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqmfHfqICYU

Some other information I found that include of sky news is that Skynews.com is the channel's main website. It provides news, sport, weather, showbiz, and business stories with help from other divisions such as Sky Sports.
In 2009 the website underwent a largely cosmetic change to bring it in line with the on-screen look of Sky News TV so it did come onto Tv a lot as well on websites for people to visit.

3) The target audience

If you can’t find the official target audience for the programme, make an educated guess based on the rest of your research. Remember: % gender, age range, social class, level of education, job/earnings etc. - Middle aged or middle class/ lower middle class.

Gender- Both male and female
Age range- 30-70
Social Class- Lower Middle class
Level of education- Educated
Job/Earnings- Unemployed, Minimum Wage-Benefits

4) The running order for three separate editions of the programme. Watch at least 20 minutes of the programme on THREE separate days and write down the following:

The news stories that appeared
The order in which the stories were broadcast
Why you think the editors of the news programme chose those stories and put them in that order.
Ed Milliband and Nick Clegg make last minute plans to campaign in Scotland.
MH17 Crash Report

I think they chose the Scotland story because it affects the whole nation and to gain support to keep the UK as the UK from all the world leaders is news worthy. It leaves the Nation wondering if Scotland is going to become independent from England and Wales or not.

I think they also decided to report the MH17 crash report because it could offer closure to those affected by the crash but yet could gain world support to the families of the victims of the crash.

HSBC

Sending messages
I chose three different type of pictures with the same type of meaning and sending the same great message through. Firstly I used a family picture, a typical family picture... mum, dad and two kids, this picture is under the title family. The second picture are two female best friends clearly shown. This is also under the title family. The third picture is a kitten hugged with love against the owners face.

The message is, not only blood makes other people who are either different from you or don't look the same as you family. People you love and people you trust are family too. Animals you keep and take responsibility for are family and you treat them with love and kindness, make them feel included and important. Best friends are like sisters and you trust them and put them in the family list because they are always there for you. You love them. Lastly family is family, connected by blood but still lovable and very important in ones life. The message as a whole is very strong and people can relate. People who are in your heart are always going to be family, connected by blood or not.

To be honest I don't think I would really want to put any improvements to my current message because I think its a very meaningful message and I thought about it really carefully before any actions made but maybe I could have been less emotional and more creative as an improvement but either way I love my current one anyway.
If I could have done anything differently I think I would have maybe made more sending messages with pictures and writing because I only had time for one and as a result I only had one message but that's it.

News Stories

1) What were the five stories your group chose to broadcast?

Greenford news story: year 8 trip to the uk nihongo cup Japanese.
National news story: Psychological studies on emotion from facebook.
London news story: London underground power control eight day strike.
Sports news story: The match between Argentina and Switzerland.
Funny news story: Woman giving birth in front of Primark.

2) For each story above, explain WHY you chose that particular story and not something else. Why would it interest a Greenford audience?
Greenford news story: We chose this story because… its really involved with Greenford Highschool which infact is in Greenford so as a result it comes up Greenford news stories also it is quite interesting knowing about the trips going on.
National news story: We chose this story because…Its about Facebook so as a result its quite national as a lot of people around the world who use Facebook

We put it in an order where the normal stories were in the beginning the serious ones were in the middle and the last funny ones were at the end as they were light-hearted.

4) How did you make sure the script was the right length?
we all made sure we had around 12 seconds or one sentence at most to say to all add up to 60 seconds when we gave our news in as we were all working individually when trying to find the different genre of news.

I rate my groups ability to work a 5 because we had great teamwork and gave in each others ideas and considered each other as important. Another reason was because we had no arguments about decisions and we all agreed on each other and made sure everyone felt involved.
